Omar SUS
Born and raised in the Conant Gardens neighborhood of Detroit, Omar S (real name Alexander Omar Smith) is noted for his raw, stripped-back approach to both creating, releasing, and marketing his music. His enigmatic and prolific output has cemented him as a local legend with international prominence.
Omar S is synonymous with Detroit Techno and House music, despite historically resisting the inclinations of media to categorize or define him. The artist is known for maintaining a fiercely independent, and low-key public profile. He has self-released most of his music on his own independent record label, FXHE Records Detroit, funding the production and distribution.
Omar S is part of the Piknic Electronik MTL #12 program, which is free for MUTEK Passport, Weekend or Weekend Light Passes’ holders
